Alexander Rodchenko. Revolution in Photography
Alexander Rodchenko (1891–1956), the Russian avant-garde artist, ranks among the great renovators of photography in the first half of the 20th Century. He was already known as a painter, sculptor and graphic designer before he challenged traditional notions of photography. Dynamic compositions, extreme camera angles, sharp contrasts and the use of photomontage describes the photographic language of Rodchenko. The exhibition features more than 200 Rodchenko’s photographs, among them renowned icons like Portrait of the Artist’s Mother (1924), Steps (1929) and Girl with a Leica (1934).
