What lies beneath

According to Freud, the unconscious is a vast unexplored place where all our traumas, repressed thoughts and impulses are located.

This series is an attempt to visualize all those thoughts, impulses, fears, insecurities and anxieties, that are beneath the surface, within the unconscious mind. Childhood emotional wounds that we carry with us into adulthood and they affect our behaviour today.

Yiannis Trifonopoulos (1986) is a visual artist working with photography, based in Kavala in Greece. He graduated with a master of science in Cultural Informatics and Communication with a specialization in Curating. He is a member of Photoclub of Kavala and contributor editor of Phases Magazine.
