Call Me By Your Name

The photo project is a double portrait that sensitively and honestly explores questions of identity through various performative actions. The project seeks both common ground and contrasts in the lives of the two authors — within the person and beyond. Initiated in 2023, it continues as an exploration of the worlds of AG and KZ. During the project, AG learned digital photography. The double portrait of AG and KZ began with a setup at Struktoru Street 13 in Riga and naturally evolved across different environments. Photographs from the project have been featured in Māxlas Žurnāls No. 17, published by Valters Dakša, and in the performance Save The Last Dance For Me, presented at the Zuzeum exhibition Straight, No Chaser.

Andris Grinbergs (1946), or AG, is a performance artist who has carried out more than 30 performances since the 1970s. His performances and happenings on themes of religion and sexuality were among the few manifestations of counterculture in Soviet Latvia. Following a Foto Kvartāls publication about KZ, AG returned after a ten-year silence, driven by a desire to say what had not yet been said.

Kaspars Zborovskis (2004), or KZ, is a young photographer. A graduate of the Photography programme at the Riga Art and Media Technical School, he is currently studying at the Latvian College of Culture and works in event reportage and other commercial photography. This year, he is a participant in the FK Photostory programme.
