FK Artist – Aurelija Maknytė

Aurelija Maknytė (1969) is a Lithuanian visual artist primarily working with photography, video and performance. She has studied photography and video art at the Vilnius Art Academy. Having had background in biology, she applies the techniques of collecting, investigation and archiving also in her artwork, which mainly deals with the personal and collective memory. In one of her most recent project Burning Slides she is destructing old slides with flame, creating often abstract and surreal images, thus expanding the borders of perception and interpretation of these photographs. This year the project Burning Slides has also been released as a photo book.
