Tīna

The documentary photography series Tīna is a portrait of a contemporary woman, which reveals personal juxtapositions between various standards accepted by society and general behavioural norms expected to be followed by women. The series examines intimacy between the photographer and her subject, during which the model and the photographer violate these standards and create a new ideal of a woman.

Elīna Semane (1991) has studied the analogue black and white photography under the guidance of photographer Andrejs Grants, as well as contemporary photography at the ISSP School. In 2016 and 2017 Elīna was nominated for the FK Prize as one of the ten best emerging photographers in Latvia. Her works have been published in the Calver Journal.
