Filips Šmits: 5 photographs, 5 stories

Filips Šmits (1996) won the FK Prize as the best young Latvian photographer this year, as well as participated in the Riga Photomonth exhibition Dīkstāve (Downtime), which took place on advertising stands in the urban environment in June. Filips uses the aesthetics of snapshot, fashion and cinema to document his generation, its relationship with nature and the urban environment. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fashion photography from the University of the Arts London, works as a commercial photographer on a daily basis, and participates in filming fashion and music clips.
