FK Artist – Igor Savchenko
In his conceptual works, Belarusian photographer Igor Savchenko (1962) is focusing on the development of a philosophical code, which would help viewers discover the time caged in these pictures. Savchenko has a degree in electrical engineering, but turned to photography in the 1980s, creating conceptual and experimental works, and frequently using photographs taken by amateurs in the 1930-1950s. Savchenko is changing the meaning of photographs by re-photographing and re-framing them. Savchenko’s works focus on photography as a medium; on the relationship between photography, reality, memory and history. In 2016 his works were exhibited at the main exhibition of Riga Photomonth entitled Territories. Lately he has increasingly turned to literature.
